John began his real estate career in 1989 with a St. Louis-based development company, where he was responsible for identifying, acquiring, and developing commercial sites. This role provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the regional commercial real estate market.

As part of the BARBERMURPHY team, John initially focused on land acquisition and development for a variety of retail, office, and industrial clients. Over time, he has expanded his expertise to represent sellers, buyers, landlords, and tenants across all property types throughout Illinois.

With more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience, John serves not only as a broker, but also as a problem solver and trusted advisor. He represents numerous banks in the disposition of real estate owned (REO) properties and has been involved in notable redevelopment projects, including a prime site along Highway 50 in O’Fallon, Illinois, anchored by Starbucks.

A member of the Southwestern Illinois Board of REALTORS®, John is a two-time recipient of the “Largest Commercial Transaction” award. He has also served as a board member of the Millstadt Sportsmen Club and as a real estate board member for St. Paul United Church of Christ.

John resides in O’Fallon, Illinois.
