James' primary focus is on Industrial Sales, leasing and development. He has also brokered some of the largest investment deals in Southern, IL. He was one of the youngest commercial brokers in the country to become a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and member of the Society of office and Industrial Brokers (SIOR). Designations awarded by the CCIM Institute have stringent education standards to achieve membership and the SIOR membership has stringent education and sales requirements.
James has brokered deals in both Missouri and Illinois. Before joining BarberMurphy Group he was a part owner and manager of a portfolio of properties for a St. Louis investment group. He also worked in the Finance and Insurance business. James has leveraged his education background in Finance and Banking to help clients with complex financing solutions for purchasing and selling real estate.
The core of the Industrial team at BarberMurphy Group made up of James and Steve Zuber has extensive experience working on numerous large and complex environmental projects in Southern Illinois including a former 230 Acre coal fired Ameren Power plant, a 1,350,000 Square Foot former World War II nuclear Uranium facility and the Chemetco Plant Hartford, IL Super Fund site to name a few.
James has been involved in over $150 million dollars of real estate transactions since he began his career, closing $44 million dollar’s worth of deals last year alone. His experience includes advising clients on 1031 Exchanges, IRS Tax 170 code sales, TIF incentives, Enterprise Zone incentives, Foreign Trade Zones and Cannabis related ordinances and zoning.
James currently lives in St. Louis.
